Camps at Sew Pinellas

Our week-long sewing and fashion design camps are the perfect mix of skill-building, self-expression, and fun. Each camp focuses on a different theme — from fashion design and garment making to bags, costumes, and creative accessories. Students learn everything from machine setup and safe sewing practices to pattern reading, fabric cutting, and design fundamentals.

All camps include use of our sewing machines, tools, and materials, plus daily creative breaks and an end-of-week showcase to celebrate each student’s work. Whether you’re brand-new to sewing or ready to take your skills to the next level, there’s a Sew Pinellas camp for you!

Each week is indicated by either Beginner or Intermediate Beginner. Beginner level will focus day 1 on how to use the sewing machine. For Intermediate Beginners levels will jump right into the projects with no machine introduction. Students who attend a beginner level in the beginning of the summer, may take an intermediate beginner class later in the summer. This differentiation will allow students to continue growing their skills as opposed to having to sit through the basics every week of camp.

Camp Dates:

Week 1: June 1–5: Sew Much Fun – Beginner Sewing Bootcamp
Start the summer learning the basics of sewing! Practice safe machine use and complete your first projects — a tote bag, pillowcase, and fun fabric accessories. Perfect for new sewists and creative beginners. (Beginner Level)

Week 2: June 8–12: Fashion Design Week – Runway Ready
Design, drape, and sew your own outfit! Learn the fundamentals of fashion design — sketching, color and fabric selection, and bringing your ideas to life on the dress form. The week ends with a mini fashion show. (Intermediate Beginner)

Week 3: June 15–19: Pirate Camp – Adventures at Sea
Ahoy, makers! Create your own pirate vest, bandana, treasure bag, and accessories inspired by adventures on the high seas. Campers explore costume design, creativity, and storytelling through sewing. (Beginner Level)

Week 4: June 22–26: Stuffie Studio
Make your own plushies, soft toys, and cozy pillows! Students design and sew their own stuffies — from cute animals to custom creations — while learning about pattern cutting, seam clipping, and hand-finishing details. (Beginner Level)

Week 5: June 29–July 3: Bags, Backpacks & Beyond
Sew your own stylish bags while learning lining, zippers, and pocket construction. Projects may include a lined tote, crossbody bag, and drawstring or backpack style bag. (Beginner Level)

Week 6: July 6–10 : Sewing Style – Pants & Skirts
Learn to sew real clothing! Beginners will make elastic-waist pajama pants or shorts, while returning students can create a skirt or pants with pockets and flat waistbands. A great introduction to garment sewing. (Beginner Level)

Week 7: July 13–17: Cosplay & Costume Creations
Bring your favorite characters to life! Choose a costume concept — from superheroes to anime — and learn how to design, sew, and accessorize your look. Includes creative use of trims, embellishments, and props. (Intermediate Beginner)

Week 8: July 20–24: T-Shirts, Hoodies & Knits
Sew with stretch fabrics and learn professional finishing techniques. Make a cozy hoodie or custom T-shirt and add your own printed or iron-on design for a personal touch. (Intermediate Beginner)

Week 9: July 27–31: Fashion Design Week – Designers’ Showcase
Take your design skills to the next level with an independent creative project. Students sketch, draft, and sew an original garment or outfit, then present their final look in our end-of-week fashion show. (Intermediate Beginner)

Week 10: August 3–7: Sew What You Love – Creative Sewing Week
The grand finale! Choose your own project — garment, bag, or upcycled piece — and get expert guidance from our instructors. This relaxed, open-studio week lets each student sew something they truly love. (Intermediate Beginner)
