Mama Needs a New Roof - Day 4

Day 4 and we are making progress at the building in the way of cleanup, but not in the way of funds being raised. I still love all of you. Maybe today’s promo will be to your liking. We are showing off our t-shirts and custom designed jewelry. Not a huge amount of items, but every little bit counts. I have ordered some new t-shirts, so these ones can find new homes.

T-shirts for $25, earrings for $12 and key chains for $8. They all scream your name!

The running tally from this week’s promos so far:

  • Memberships $1500

  • Digital Patterns $4

  • Interfacing $3

So yeah, all that work, with very little return. That’s ok. the interfacing and patterns are on sale through the end of the month. This habit of posting and filming daily is making me accountable to sharing our progress. After the 27th, you won’t hear much from me on camera. I’m having a surgical procedure done on the 28th, so I’ll be recovering on the couch for a bit after that, but as soon as I have enough healing vibes, I’ll be back in front of the camera.

Today I will discuss a little more about what we are going through at both the new space and the current space. We met with our architect on Monday and did a full walk through. Because bathrooms have to become significantly bigger than they are with a door opening bigger than 2’, the draping/pattern room is having to move spaces. I know you have no frame of reference at all, but I will explain. The draping/pattern room was originally planned to be off of the main shop area. That room is now going to be the smaller group class room.

The rooms that were previously planned for the industrial sewing machine classroom will now become the pattern and draping room with a major change. We will be having to get new smaller tables on wheels so we can rearrange the room based on its use. This room will also likely become more of a shared/rented studio when a class isn’t happening.

We still have only received one official quote for work on the space. Unfortunately, we need bids on all the work that needs to be done before we can apply for the grant program. The grant program will help us with interior work, building repairs and the parking lot. But it doesn’t cover any roof work. That is all on us.

In our current space, we just received about 30 new quilting cottons. Early next week we will have a bunch more ponte knits, denims and laces. We are also back into the swing of things with sold out classes. We are in the process of training all our teachers for lead instruction and even brought in a new shop and classroom assistant. You will begin to see Melody more often, but starting in a few weeks, you will see her on Wednesday mornings.

Heads up sale coming your way! Next Monday come into the shop and buy 3 pre-cut bundled fabrics and receive a 4th one for free! You heard it here first. I will be sharing that in our email on Monday and in our video updates the rest of the week. Monday August 24th! And come meet Melody that day too!
