Mama Needs a New Roof - Day 3

I didn’t get yesterday’s video promo posted until late in the day, so no new numbers to report for our roof funding. Note that the stabilizer/interfacing is on sale on Porcelynne.com until the end of the month, so get your stash soon. Remember that stuff is great to trace off patterns with and is also a great muslin alternative, meaning you can actually sew it together to see if the pattern fits as intended before cutting into your good stuff.

I’m not going to include out regular class registrations in these totals, as they are immediately accounted for when they are booked - between current payroll and existing bills. But if you mention that you have read or are following our progress and you spend at least $20 in the shop, you will get 1 free grab bag and your purchase goes into our tally.

Today I want to talk about some of the really cool things I do. Did you know I’m a pattern maker and fashion designer? I trained at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC back in the 1900s. That is funny to say really. I graduated in 1999. I have had quite an adventure since then.

I had my own lingerie clothing business for years, then switched over to supplies in 2009 after I closed my business (you know because of the crash) and liquidated all my supplies. And guess what? People wanted my supplies. At the time I was teaching fashion design at FIDM in San Francisco and took the opportunity to transition to a full time position at the Los Angeles campus in late 2009.

It was during this time that I began to write books and create digital sewing patterns. So today is all about my books and patterns. I still have a few patterns to go, but I have been adding all my digital books and patterns for sale on Sew Pinellas.

Many of my patterns include youth patterns since I was creating them for myself and my daughter while she was growing up, but my newer ones may not include the youth patterns, now that my kid is 5’8” and is wearing an adult medium.

You may notice that there are some bra, sports bra and panty patterns in the mix, mainly because that is where I began my education and where I have established a name for myself. All the patterns go up to a 3X, but a few of them go up to a 4X and 5X. Many also have various cup sizes for those people who just don’t fit the norm. If you see a pattern that you love but its not in your size, just email me at hello@sewpinellas.com and ask me to extend the size for you. It may take be a bit to do it, but I will get it in the queue.

To round up today’s post. I am putting all my digital files that are listed on Sew Pinellas at 20% off until the end of the month. If I do too much of a sale, that negates me trying to raise money for the roof. And if you want the large format paper pattern, we can print my patterns for only $3 a sheet. Sorry, we do not ship.

Today’s total remains at $1500

Today was the 3rd day in a row that we worked on the yard at the new place. It is coming along, but man, it is in rough shape and Florida is hot. We are about ¾ of the way down the building. I’m hoping we get to finish the side next to the fence tomorrow, then we get to move onto the next to the fence.
