Mama Needs a New Roof - Day 2

Thank you all for humoring me for the next 9 days as this is making me accountable for following through with a series of blog posts and videos to help us raise the roof (on the new building).

After heading over to the (new) shop on Saturday around 10 to do some yard cleanup, we decided that getting an earlier start would have been better. Yesterday (Sunday), David and I put on our big kids clothes and hit the yard at 8:30. It wasn’t as unbearable as the day before and we lasted an hour. There is seriously a jungle behind the building and the neighboring property. We pulled down vines and cut down rogue trees.

We got to see where the overgrowth actually helped rot out a window frame and an overhang in the back. I don’t think the inspector knew about that because it was covered in vines. It was so rotted out you can see right into the building through the frame and the dollar signs that will come with that. There were a few bees swarming at the overhang, but I don’t think there is a hive in there as it was only 2 bees. Bees are the last thing I want to deal with.

We have made it a little more than halfway down the building so far, but plan to do a few early morning cleanups after dropping Emily off at school. Its definitely some good exercise. I forgot to wear my fitness tracker the first day, but remembered yesterday. I need to make sure I get credit for this in the app!

We gained 3 new members yesterday, so our total raised by this campaign is now:

Membership Tally: $1500

Yeah, we have a ways to go, but we will get there. In the coming days I will be sharing and selling bits of a vintage collection I’ve been hoarding since I was in California, including some furs, a wedding dress from the 1920s and a few other random clothing items. Not sure how I’ll share those and make those for sale. Maybe I’ll do a video and then post a carousel with each item with the price. I will ship anywhere in the US too. International shipping is a bit more complicated. But thats not for a few more days.

Today (and the next 9 days) we will be having a flash sale on some stabilizer/interfacing. If comes from the Alabama haul we brought back a few years ago. Some of it is awesome to use for tracing off patterns. But its also great for embroidery backings. If you want it shipped, you can purchase directly on Porcelynne, but if you are local, come and get it for $3 a yard. The flash sale is 25% off the listed price on the website. That is for both a full roll and yardage, so that means if you have a use for a whole roll, you will get it for roughly $1.50 a yard. That is a steal for some lucky person. Note that the full roll shipping might not be accurate, so if you do buy a full roll to be shipped, you may be invoiced for the shipping difference. The are considered “oversized” by UPS and we can’t indicate that in shipping calculations.

If you are local and want a full roll, look at the quantity options on Porcelynne and then shoot me an email at hello@sewpinellas.com so we can pull it from storage for you.

Keep on sharing out posts and reels!
