The Volunteer Training + Sewing Bootcamp is designed for students who are ready to move from participant to leader.
Held in April and May, this structured training program prepares teens and adults to assist in Sew Pinellas summer camps through skill refinement, teaching preparation, and leadership development. The sessions meet 12 times.
Throughout the bootcamp, students will:
• Strengthen sewing fundamentals and machine confidence
• Practice precision techniques and project troubleshooting
• Learn how to demonstrate skills clearly to younger students
• Develop classroom awareness and leadership skills
• Understand safety procedures and studio expectations
• Build confidence in guiding beginner sewists
This is not just a sewing class. It is a mentorship pathway.
Students who successfully complete the bootcamp will be eligible to volunteer during our summer sewing camps, assisting instructors and supporting younger students in a structured learning environment. This is ideal for teens looking to earn volunteer credit or for parents who want to be actively involved with their kids over the summer.
Tuition & Refund Policy
The training tuition is fully refundable after the student completes two weeks of summer volunteer service.
This ensures commitment to the program while making leadership opportunities accessible and rewarding.
Students gain real experience, documented service hours, and mentorship training while contributing meaningfully to our creative community.
