Sewing Classes

Embark on a journey of growth and creativity with our specially designed sewing classes at Sew Pinellas, perfect for those ready to build upon their foundational knowledge of machine operation. These classes are tailored for individuals who have mastered the basics and are eager to delve deeper into the art of sewing. For those without a working knowledge of a sewing machine, please attend our Introduction to Sewing class prior to attending one of these classes.

Class Details:

  • Duration: Join us for 3 consecutive weeks, with each class spanning 2 hours of immersive learning. Hawaiian Shirt class spans 4 weeks.

  • Focus: Transitioning from beginner to confident sewist, these classes offer a curated curriculum that covers various sewing techniques and projects. You'll learn how to tackle more complex tasks, understand fabric types, and start working on beginner-level projects that enhance your skills.

  • Environment: Our classes provide a supportive and creative space where you can explore new sewing challenges under the guidance of experienced instructors. Expect a mix of demonstrations, hands-on practice, and personalized feedback.

Whether you're aiming to undertake personal projects or simply enjoy the process of creating, these classes are an ideal stepping stone. They are designed to not only expand your technical abilities but also to instill confidence and a deeper appreciation for sewing as a craft.

Skirt Apparel Class (March-May): Create a pocketed skirt and secondary project TBA. Supplies included for all March Classes. For classes in April and after fabric is NOT included. We recommend purchasing 2 yards of woven cotton fabric from Fabric Smart. We have a limited selection available for a $45 supply fee. For long skirts, purchase 2.5 yards.

Hawaiian Shirt Apparel Class (April-June): Create a button down Hawaiian shirt in this class. Fabric is NOT included. We recommend purchasing 2 yards (3 yards for larger sizes) of woven cotton fabric from Fabric Smart and a pack of buttons (5). We have a limited selection available for a $45 supplies fee.

Fix It & Alter It Apparel Class (May-July): Bring your clothing that needs altering and work with us to tailor its fit, fix a button or learn to hand stitch a hem. Miscellaneous garments will be available to work on if students do not bring their own items to alter.

Drawstring Elastic Waist Pant (June-August): Embark on a journey to make your own elastic waist drawstring pant with pockets. Supply list will be available when class registration is live.

*All projects subject to change. 4 student minimum required to take place. Students registered for a class that does not meet the minimum will be notified 5 days prior to the class to be rescheduled for another class time.
