Garment Sewing - Swim Suits

Ready to sew your own swimsuit? Join us for this fun 3-week garment-making class, where you’ll learn the fundamentals of sewing swim fabrics and elastic while creating a wearable swimsuit from start to finish.

This class is designed for confident beginners who are comfortable using a sewing machine and ready to expand their skills into garment construction. Students will choose from 2 swimsuit pattern styles and be guided step-by-step through the construction process. Students can select from 2 different tops and 2 different bottoms from Edgewater Avenue. The Georgia Top or the Dallas Top and the Whitney Bottoms or Roxy Bottoms.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to cut and sew swim fabrics

  • Techniques for working with stretch materials

  • How to apply swim elastic

  • Basic garment construction and assembly order

  • Tips for sewing professional-looking seams

Class Structure:

  • Week 1: Cut fabric and construct swimsuit bottoms

  • Week 2: Construct swimsuit tops

  • Week 3: Final assembly and finishing

Students will cut their bathing suit bottoms during class, with simple homework between sessions to keep projects on track. No pattern modifications will be done in class, allowing us to focus on mastering essential skills and completing a finished garment.

Skill Level: Confident beginner - students must have completed Introduction to Sewing Level 1 and Level 2.

Materials:

Students will select from approved patterns and will need to purchase their own fabric and supplies. A detailed supply list will be provided after registration.

Leave class with a finished swimsuit and the confidence to tackle future stretch-fabric projects!
